In this 6-week online course (through Google Meet), we shall go through the principles of Veda Chanting and the rules of Vedic phonetics. The Vedas are considered to be a divine revelation to the seers of Ancient India. UNESCO proclaimed Veda Chanting a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It is said to be the longest, continuous oral tradition, dating back at least 3000 years.

We will learn the Invocation Mantras (Ganapati and Sarasvati Prarthana) and Gayatri Mantra. We will also review Saha nāvavatu and Purnamadah.

Handouts will be sent by email before the date.  Audio recordings of the mantras we learned will be sent after each class so you can continue practicing on your own. You will send an audio recording of each mantra for correction. Each participant will also have a 1 on 1 video call with me to make sure that you are able to recite the mantras correctly.

This will be recorded and will be shared with participants after class. If you cannot attend in person, you will be able to catch up using the recording.
